Fire Fighter's Radio-SOLAS Requirement

FIREFIGHTERS radio compliant with regulation SOLAS Chapter II-2 / 10.10.4
In November 2012, the IMO’s (International Maritime Organization) Maritime Safety Committee set out a number of measures designed to improve fire safety at sea.
SOLAS Chapter II-2, Regulation 10.10.4 regulation must be met by every commercial and passenger ship before 1st July 2018, requiring that every party of fire fighters have dedicated handheld radios compliant with ATEX & IECEX directives about explosive atmospheres.

Purpose of this regulation is to increase safety on ship, and quires that each party of firefighters must have at least 2 dedicated handheld radios and accessories ATEX/IECEX certified, suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Failing in observing this regulation before 1st July 2018 can result in being fined by port authorites, and eventually have the vessel detained at port until proper equipments are installed.
